Considering that you are in a township rather than a municipality, I would bet that chickens are permitted. I recently made some calls on behalf of a relative who lives in a township not far from you and was told by the zoning inspector that Ohio law trumps township law and that livestock (chickens included) cannot be regulated by townships. There are, of course, noise ordinances to be mindful of if you wish to keep roosters. I would look online or in a phone book and get the number for the Peru township zoning inspector.
