Hi all,

I just ordered my first round of chickens ever. Ordered 10 barred rocks to raise for layers and 15 cornish x to raise for meat. Me and my wife just decide out of the blue one day we wanted chicken and after 4 weeks of planning building a scraping parts together finally ordered the chicks yesterday. I think I'm a little more excited than she is or she is just tired of hearing me yap about chickens either way I think it will be fun.

I'm glad you joined our "flock"

Barred Rocks should be great layers for you! If you want to read more about them, I suggest taking a look at the Plymouth Rock breed reviews here: Plymouth Rock

Good luck with your future chicks! When are they due to arrive?

Thanks all my chicks are due to arrive on Feb 16 so about 5 more day can't wait. Has anyone bought any of the side mount watering nipples from rich386?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. Some members swear by nipple waterers and apparently have no problem with them. Personally, I've never been able to get them to work very well, so I'm still using the galvanized waterers. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your chicks.
