Hi all! My name is Chris and I'm trying my hand at backyard chickens for the first time. I have two Rhode Island Reds and two Gold Sexlink chicks almost ready to leave the brooder box. I'm an active duty navy guy almost to retirement and wanted to try a new hobby. I can't believe how much fun this has been. I built my own brooder box and kind of modified a kit coop for the ladies. My wife will be happy when it's out of the garage. Haha. But I'm a tinkerer at heart, and it's been so fun researching feeder designs, toy ideas, and so on. I found this group while googling chicken related stuff. Also have two kitties and two little teacup Chihuahuas. I live in the Pacific Northwest. I've found so many helpful things in this group that I decided to join. Looking forward to interacting with all of you!

Chris

Hey Chris :welcome. Glad you could join us. Nice job on the brooder box, I built a similar box into the end of my coop run. Best of luck with your chooks sir:frow
Thanks you! It was an expandable brooder box design. One can start only using one third, then two thirds, and so on. There's a slat to block off what one needs. And for four chickens, it allows 6 sq feet until they are ready for the coop.
