Newbie to the group :)

I'm Katie and we started our flock in April. We began with 12 chickens (11 hens and a rooster). We had a raccoon attack our coop two weeks ago, during all the rain, and it took out half our flock It was devastating! But we trapped it and eliminated it, and now our coop looks like Ft. Knox! I just wish we hadn't had to learn that lesson the hard way.
Our girls are about 17 weeks now and we love having them! We also have two dogs: a lab-retriever and a Great Dane. Life has definitely become much more exciting since we added chickens to our crew. The kids really enjoy them and are looking forward to the eggs as well as potentially expanding the flock some more.
