Newbie up in here

I started with chickens then moved on to 2 breeds of quail and ducks. It’s kinda addicting honestly. Helen was my first chicken. What a hoot she was. Make your coop as large as you can. It never seems to be big enough and make it so you can walk around comfortably as you’re going to be cleaning it and I like comfortable when doing chores. Don’t waste money on all those fancy feeders. I usually make my own. Self watered are nice but don’t rely on them exclusively if they clog and you don’t know, the birds can die. Get an auto coop door.

Hi everyone, I'm excited to learn from you pros!

I have been pondering the chicken life for a couple of years and have been researching for about a year. I'm ready.

I've got my coop design. I've got my hen list.

I want to run an efficient low maintenance operation that is as automated as possible. Do you have any advice on how to make it run well? Maybe things you wish you would have done in hindsight?

I'm editing my initial post to include that you are all so much more helpful and kind than the FB groups. Thank you very much.
Welcome to BYC!!
