Just got 4 Golden Sex Link pullets this past Saturday and picking up 2 Black Sex Links and a Road Island Red pullet this coming Saturday. All are about 12-16 weeks old.
My husband built me a coop at end of March and so now it's filling up. We are also working on an enclosed portable run to let them go out in the yard during the day without supervision. Right now they are let out in an unenclosed fenced area but I don't want them to fly away or let the alley cats or a hawk get to them, so they are only out while I am there.
So the new three will go in the portable run for a couple of weeks to get them used to seeing each other-- and to make sure no one is sick.
So far the first 4 are very easy- they put themselves to roost at night and I just close the door to the run area. They get feed pellets and kefir (which they love) in the morning. Change the water as needed.
