Hi everyone,
Okay, you probably get this posted a lot, so bear with me.
I got 4 new chicks. Have not exposed them to outside yet.
They are raised currently in a rabbit cage with a plastic bottom with pine shaving as bedding. They are 1 month old now, but am noticing that sometimes they have bloody stool, but otherwise they seem very happy.
They are eating medicated chicken starter.
I read that it might be cocci. But if they are eating medicated stuff, doesn't that have the medicine in it to stop that?? Is it the pine shaving??
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Sally-O

I use medicated Starter/Grower I feed it to the birds until I get my first egg then I switch over to Layer. If I have any Starter/Grower or Grower left over when I get my first egg, I mix in the leftover feed with the Layer feed. I have never had any problems. The amprollium in the starter helps in the chicks development in their resistance to cocci. It is sulfa based.

Here is a "poop chart" that might be help you in what you are seeing.
