Hi, so glad to be here! My hubby and I are senior citizens and enjoy raising chickens. We have 5 Amber Links. And recently had 11 babies hatch. The hens are very friendly but the rooster is a big bully. The poor girls have no feathers on their backs. We have moved him to a separate pen and don't quite know what to do with him. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really like to hear them.

Is rehoming him an option?

Hi Mary and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I'd be inclined to either try and re-home him, and put him in the crockpot. If you wish to hatch more chicks, you will have a couple of cock birds in the batch of chicks that you have, so you can continue hatching.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

Never a good reason to keep a bad rooster. Banish him and your poor girls will rejoice.

There is a glut of roosters on the market, many just because they aren't allowed in certain towns. Among them some real jewels of good temperament . It's a buyers market and sometimes you can ever get a great rooster for free

:welcome
