Hi, I was given two chickens by a breeder... one turned out to be a boy (so I’ve rehomed him).
But the girl is not doing well at all and I have no idea what’s wrong or what to do. She is balding and I noticed a wart looking thing on her back. Her face looks darker and she just doesn’t look happy. I’ve taken a picture of the growth.
any advice?

That is the oil gland which is located on the rump of a chicken. Dont mess with it, it is normal.

More information about your hen is needed, ie; her age, what are you feeding her, living conditions, are there other hens etc?
There are many causes of feather loss; feather picking, external parasites, molt, stress, improper feed and so on.
If she is the only chicken, it would be best to get her a flock mate since chickens are social creatures.

Thank you.
I am trying to get another couple of girls for her. I thought it best to rehome the male as soon as I could as he was constantly jumping on her.
