I am looking forward to learning from all of you. I do not have anything other than some meat rabbits currently, but I plan to raise quail and ducks. I am in Michigan and live in the city. I am hoping my neighbors don't get too upset with me. Tips and tricks would be appreciated.

Only tip I can mention is I found that female ducks seem to be a lot more noisy then female chickens.

The reason for the desire to raise ducks is that my son is allergic to chicken eggs. His reaction to Quail is not as bad, but he has no problems with duck eggs. Thanks for letting me know about the noise. That could be an issue.

Unless of course your neighbors are tree-huggin' types who like the idea of taking back the city and living closer to the land. My girl chickens are loud, but my neighbors like the idea of "country" living near them.

from NH. A handful of ducks are not all that loud, but they are audible from quite a distance. I'd make sure the neighborhood is on board with your plan because there will be no hiding the fact you have them once you get them. Good luck and glad you joined us.

Hi and welcome from a fellow newbie from Alabama!

We have 4 Rouen ducks and they are the sweetest little things. They are a bit noisy, but we love them bunches.
