I'm curious. How much does it cost to buy and feed either an emu or ostrich??

I have two emu girls who hatched in March and go through about 100 lbs of feed in three weeks. They have a few chickens with them, but the chickens eat NOOOOoo where near as much as they do.

I feed them chicken layer and rabbit pellets, the chicken layer is about $15, and the rabbit feed is $18 (both are 50 pound bags). They also get a lot of veggies and fruits from the garden as well as Brewer's Yeast over their food once a week or so... which I think was about $10?

Construction of a large and strong enough enclosure to handle an adult emu(s) and keep potential predators out can be quite costly, we have a couple of thousand dollars in our two largest emu pens.
