I've never hatched chicks either but, I know most chicken folks say "sit on your hands, don't open the bator." Sending good hatching vibes your way

I haven't used your incubator before, so don't know whether the vent holes should both be open. But, I would think that leaving both open would be fine, as long as the humidity stays at atleast 60%.

I hope the hatch goes well!
