Newborn chick with deformed eyes

I had a chick just hatch today. A beautifully marked Swedish flower chick. Beautiful and healthy in every way except one eye appears too small and while the other eye is bulging out. I don't know anything that could have happened to the chick as it is still in the "hatcher". I am thinking it was born this way but didn't see it when it was first born so can't say for sure. Anyone ever had anything like this?

Hi,

I have a Swedish flower hen with a very similar condition. It turns out that she is blind in the enlarged eye, and has a limited field of vision in the other. We consider her a 'special needs' chicken since, of course, picking up food is a little more difficult for her. Otherwise she is very nice and healthy and we love to have her around. The other chicken have picked on her, partially because she was not raised with them, partially because she is an easy target. In your case, this might be different. Main thing is to make sure that she gets easy access to food.
