Newby in Central MA

I don't have chickens yet. We are planning on building a coop and getting 5 or 6 chicks in the spring. Doing the research now...
We have 2 children and one on the way so we want friendly breeds.
My 6YO wants an EE and an Australorp. My 3YO thinks the green eggs are really cool.. Sooo.. I'm hoping to get 2 EE and an Australorpe, and not sure what else.. Maybe a red star and an orpinton?
