(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had them as a child living on a ranch in Florida. I tried to get some about 10 years ago but neighbors complained (was in St Petersburg FL). Now we bought a place in the country in Water Valley, MS and it already had a fenced in garden and chicken coop.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 chicks, 2 hens, and a rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 6 chicks 2 golden comets, 2 isa browns, and 2 smokey pearls. I recently bought 2 ameranca hens and a leghorn rooster.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Eggs. Plus they are so cute. The chicks are just getting out of the franken chicken stage of getting feathers.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I quilt and do counted cross stitch.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband is a maintenance man at apartments nearby. We have adopted our grandson who is mildly autistic and goes to the local public school. I was disabled for 5 years until thw end of last year when I had both hips replaced. Right now we just moved and I am trying to get everything put away.

I found BYC every time I looked for chicken info online.
