Hey so Hi, I'm new on here, but I could use any help I can get with my girls!
So my husband and bought an old farm house a year ago and started with our Donkeys, and then our chickens.
I started with 7 hens and 1 rooster. We bought 2 Rhode Island Reds that were older but still laying, 1 Sussex, 1 Easter Egger (blue eggs), 1 silkie, and 2 Buff Orpingtons. And then our Rooster is an Easter Egger too.
After the first 3 weeks, one of my older Rhode Islands (Bertie) ended up dying.
We let our Sussex (Henny Penny) lay on some eggs and we got 7 babies!
Then a couple weeks ago my female dog got out of the house... and killed one baby
Then my silkie went broody and I put an egg under her and she got 1 baby!
Then I bought 3 baby chicks (Plymouth Rocks) from Tractor Supply... and I didn't read up enough and I didn't quarantine then.... and they had mites... lol
So my last month was me taking care of my mite problem.
So as of now we have 3 mini Donkeys, 3 Nigerian dwarf goats, and 6 hens 1 rooster, and 10 babies! All different ages! I also am new to gardening... and pretty much anything that has to do with farm life. But I am willing to learn! Just grateful to find a community I can ask questions to and hear from experienced chicken owners!
