Newest coop creation

This is the new coop that I have built for a customer. It is 8' x 4' with the coop taking up half of that.

I used pennies for the washers which worked out really good because the pennies disappear against the treated wood. I can't take credit for the penny idea, I saw a picture of that on BYC! BTW from what I have read it is not illegal to drill holes in currency as long as you do not try to put it back in circulation.

Hand made knob made from the wood that was cut out for the soffit vents.

Eventually this one is going to have a pretty hi-tech wheel system so this can be moved around his yard.

This coop is actually built for a really good friend of mine, he got the family discount so the total was $1,500. I am currently working on another for a lady that is 2' shorter and is a walk in coop and we have agreed on 2k.

This coop was completely designed using Google Sketchup which has been real fun to use. I have been in construction for many years and rarely did we use plans so having a 3-D representation of the project has been awesome. And by having plans I was able to build just about the whole thing in sections at my shop then load in the van and assemble on site.

I really like the penny idea. How easy/difficult was it to drill holes through the pennies? I think I will do it when I build my coop! Copper is a pretty soft metal.

I've got to know did you charge them a penny a piece for the "washers" or did you up charge to say 2 cents a piece to compensate you for your time in drilling the holes?

As far as charging per penny on this coop it just came with the coop at the said price agreed on. This was a real good friend of mine so he got a good discount.
I think in the future it will be a "price per penny" charge. To buy a good rust proof washer (stainless or galvanized) you are going to pay upwards of 15-20 cents per washer so I will charge based on those prices. Also I used way more fasteners than needed on the hardware cloth.
