Hello & goodnight! So long story short we believe that this hen escaped a poultry shop/vivero, across a big street and over a very active train track and found her way to my block. So we caught her and took her in. She seems really sweet and has been gentle with my chicks but she’s sleeping separately atm. Any tips and any idea what breed she might be?! #rightplacerighttime

Looks like a production red, or red sexlink.
:hugs glad you rescued her.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome
I’m glad we were able to rescue her as well, I think she just needs some extra tlc. Maybe in a couple weeks she’ll be looking better. She’s seems comfortable and made herself right at home since we took her in this evening. Thank you for your help and the welcome!

Also open to tips on integrating her into a flock of chicks especially since she’s the oldest. And getting her to be a bit more friendly to the chicks and us.

That is an awesome story, would make a cute kid book! So how old are your chicks? You said she's with them during the day, just not at roosting time - correct? Or is there fence between them?
You’re right that’s a great idea. My chicks are a couple days away from being 4 & 7 weeks. In the day she’s separated from them in the run, we let her roam with them for like 5 minutes or so at a time 2-3x a day. But she’s a bit snippy sometimes and tends to peck most times unprovoked. And yes they roost separately.

Okay yea you're doing the right thing as they're a bit young. She doesn't look to old herself, can't really tell but they'll be closer to her size soon enough. How many chicks do you have an what breed? You could slip her onto a roost at night and make sure the little's have places to hide to get away from her to keep the integration moving along. Still separate during the day for a bit, just an idea. RIR's and Red Sex Link's I've had have always been on the bit more aggressive side. Not a deal breaker and I'm sure not everyone agrees with that, just my experience. The poor dear has been through a lot of stress I bet so it's got to be awesome for her to have your flock, I'm sure as they get bigger it'll get better ⭐

Yeah I think she’s pretty young too. She picked her spot to roost in the run at night and seems to really like it there. I have a prefab coop so it’d be hard for them to get away. I have 8 chicks
4 adopted cuckoo marans (1 potential Roo) 7 week crew, 2 brahmas & 2 orpintons-4 week crew. Hoping it gets better because I’d love for them to all be together. She seems to be doing well just a bit funky but her poop is very liquidy and clear so idk
