Newly Chicken Obsessed & Ok with it.

Hi!

I live in WY and recently became the proud owner of chickens!

Started with 4 we took over for someone else, just before they began laying this summer. 2 leghorns, 1 black cochin, 1 Australorp. But we lost the australorp (my favorite) to our dogs. :'(

We since revamped the coop and pen and picked up 3 Sapphire Gem chicks, not sure of sex.

I am now chicken obsessed and love being a chicken owner. If I could spend all my time with them and spare time reading about them, I totally would.

Thanks for all the info I've already learned, all the chicken photos, and feeding my addiction.

You are going to fit right in here!
My mom raised chickens for meat when i was growing up. She warned me not to get attached as they were food.
Well i helped with the cleaning and dressing, and learned alot, but i fell in love with chickens and i am now 60 and still have them. Not for food, not for eggs (although i do use our eggs and sell some) i just cant emagine not having them around. I never cull my girls when they stop laying, just let them live there life.
