:(got my first baby today. 6 more piping. had a page with all my insruction but cant find. My wife and I had to leave to go to work so my wife going to check at lunch. Will theh be alright in the incubator till then, what temp shoud be in the brooder, im so excited cant wait to get home.

They'll be fine until you get home...they actually do better if we leave them alone while they're hatching. You wouldn't want to take them out of the bator until they're dry and fluffy anyway. As for the temp...it must be right if they're hatching...I'd leave that alone too.

Good luck.

The brooder should be 95 the first week. Then reduce by 5 degrees every week until equal to outside temps. Just watch the chicks after raising the lamp. if they stay clumped together they are too cool. Just lower the lamp a lil and they will adjust there position to their liking. Be sure to only have the lamp covering 1 end of the brooder. that way they can move away to regulate there temp. They should move all over while active. and sleeping together for warmth. But should not be mashed together all the time! if they are , they are too cool. As long as they have room to get away or closer to the light they will be fine!
P.s. sleeping alot and in all kinds of crazy positions is normal. I thought some of mine had narcolepsy! LOL They would be in mid step and just stretch all the way to the ground. standing with head on ground (tri-pod) and sleep! LOL So Funny!!!! 1 Time I thought they all had died! They were in all kinds of strange positions. Legs up, out, sideways...etc All was fine! they just have to figure out the best position to sleep. It took mine bout 2 weeks to figure it out.
Good Luck and God Bless!

Iput in 32 production red eggs and the roster is ??? the first chick was black so will it turn red or what ? cant wait to get home!!!!

Congrats! How exciting!

My 1st hatch was a bust. Were supposed to hatch 3/12 and nothing. I went from 13 eggs down to 4 that made it to lockdown, then none.

I have fingers crossed that my next set will at least hatch 1. Could see movement right before lockdown. EDD 3/17.
Again, Congrats!!

Congrats again! Be sure not to jump to conclusions. Some eggs take longer than others! I had a set take 25 days befor hatch!!! All the others popped on day 21!

Good Luck and God Bless!

I looked up Production Reds. The pure breed are redish yellow chicks. They are almost the same as RIR but a lil lighter. So i dunno if they will change any or not. Wish ya knew what the roo was! They will be fine for 3 days with out food and water. I personally wait 48 Hrs befor removing them from bator. Then do it quickly! I remove the fuzzy butts and egg shells then refill water containers to keep humidity up for the others left. Do it as quickly as possible to prevent drop in temp and humidity. I add hot water to tubs. Then I give the rest atleast 25 days to hatch. If you have to open the bator or help(which is NOT recomended!!!!) but I did LOL You can take it into a HOT steamy bathroom and open it. I did this twice. I know I wasn't posed to. But I had to try and help! Both I helped out only made it a couple days and I had to cull. So I guess Mother nature really does know best. But all the rest made it fine even after opening the bator twice! I put a small room heater in there and cranked the HOT shower. It was SOOOooo HOT I looked like I was IN the shower when I came out. LOL I had 52 of 62 total hatch out!!!! First time and a 6 stage staggerd hatch to boot! It is so exciting and nerve wracking at the same time! I love it! I can't wait till my babies start to lay! When you add fresh water to the waterer in brooder use warm water. that way they don't get a chill from drinking cold water. It helps keep there body temp up. I really don't think they would die from drinking cold water but it don't hurt. Don't forget to add pebbles or marbles to waterer so they dont get in it and drown. I only add medication when and if needed. Same with vitamins. I use a medicated chick starter feed. and just watch them. You will be able to tell who needs a lil boost. I just gave them a lil drop of poli-visol with out iron baby vitamins from wally world. I just rubbed it on the side of their beak until they opend up enough to get a drop in. The vitamins stink! If you get them on your skin I smelled it for 2 days! even after washing repeatedly. hahaha smells like vitamins....Pee eewwww!!!

LOL
Sending you good hatching vibes!!!!!!
Good LUck and God BLess!
