Hi! So of my 5 incubated chicks, all 5 hatched! I'm super excited about the hatch rate, and 4/5 are doing great, already in the brooder. I have one little chick who has had quite a bit of drama from start to finish. This one is still in the incubator. It took this little one WAY longer to pip and eventually hatch. Long story short, it ended up being an assisted hatch. The little one is gaining a lot of energy, and moving around the incubator, so I am hopeful it is doing alright. I noticed, thought, that after several hours it hasn't fluffed up, and the feathers are dried to its body. How can I assist this little chick?

Thanks!

Hi, congrats on the very successful hatch rate! Honestly, chicks that are in need of assistance of hatching are usually weaker or relatively slower to develop, I recommend feeding this chick some mashed hard boiled egg and also dilute SAVE-A-CHICK vitamin in its water. Or some sort of vitamin mixture in its water. This happened to me before when I hatched chicks from time to time. And with every experience, it takes at most 2-3 days for the feathers to become fluffy with proper care. Good luck on the new chicks!

You can take a warm wet rag and rub it down. It will help
To clean off some of the remaining residue. Then dry it with a dry towel and make sure it gets proper warmth.
