Hi, my husband and I have decided to give our hand at raising layers since we bought a house and my grandma had talked me into enjoying chickens as she has for a few years now.

I have a group of 6 chicks, ranging between 2 and three weeks. Not exactly sure on their ages as I bought them from a local feed store who said the youngest they carried were 3 days old and the oldest were 2 weeks.

I have
2 ISA Brown
1 Buff Orp*
2 RIR
1 Barred Rock (Her name is Wednesday because she's black and I was feeling very Adams family vibes from her!)

*We had 2 Buff Orp however the first night we brought the 6 chicks home one of our Buff Orp passed away within 12 hours of bringing her home.
(Barred Rock was given to us by the feed store to recoup from the loss. She wasn't an original pick for our group.)

I actually joined to write about the experience I just had with one of my RIRs.
