Newspaper For Mulch?

I have a shredder that I use to make bedding for worms by shredding newspaper. I have seen animals use this newspaper mulch to make nests with.
Is there any reason why I should not use this newspaper mulch for the chickens? I imagine they would love it! I don’t want to do anything that could harm them though, so that is why I am asking.

There is an entire thread about using shredded paper for coop litter. It seems to work well for most, and turns into wonderful garden compost too.
