So now that our coop is built, we're trying to get all the other steps done so we can move the chicks in, get the city's inspection done, and have that worry off my back.

The remaining steps are whitewashing the inside against bugs, putting in pavers under the gaps at the bottom edge of the run, getting the fencing wire apron against burrowing predators put around the edge, and then getting bedding and PDZ in.

Took 3 hardware stores today to find hydrated lime. And then I had to run out to Aldi's for more salt. Any time I've mentioned whitewashing to people they have been confused. By the end of all this, I wanted to shout to the world "Haven't you people ever read Tom Sawyer???"

Also a neighbor apparently cut up a tree, and there was a pile of branches and thin log bits at the curb - so we grabbed a couple big chunks and a couple branches to help set up chick enrichment in the run. May use one of those logs to help be a step up to the roost in the coop.

Husband mixing up the whitewash for me:

Curious about your floor, remember reading previously that is was HDPE....
....is it just a very thin piece of HDPE over plywood?

Hmm, not sure:

Yeah, that may well be plywood under it.
Or OSB....just curious about the process or product...how thick is the HDPE, is it glued on or not...sorry, I get carried away with curiosity questions.
