long time lurker, first time poster... raise birds for meat as we have a goal of trying to donate it to the local food pantry. Our layers we keep so that we can give eggs to the local food pantry... for sure a bad business plan, but we view the opportunity to feed the poor as priceless.

thanks... we often wonder if chickens are the best bang for the buck, but people seem to like eggs and it is great to know that they are fresh and rangers so they are good eggs.
