Can I feed my ducklings (6 days old) peas or banana instead of brewers yeast? There is someone tell me to feed them cooked meat,is it true? Bc I don't found any brewers yeast near me and I can't get it from Amazon.

I am no expert, but I have always fed peas to my ducklings because there was no local source for me to get brewer's yeast.

No idea on feeding them cooked meat; mine devour raw meat (as in nightcrawlers that they find after a rain) with great enthusiasm.

Good luck with your ducklings!

You can buy nutritional yeast at health food stores or from Amazon. Its more expensive but also higher concentration of Niacin/

Josh's frogs 1lb bags are currently available on amazon:

The 5lb bag I buy will be available by May 15

Please do not feed your ducklings meat cooked or not. They can eat size appropriate bugs/grubs as long as you are offering chick grit. Peas are a source of Niacin but the prime source of niacin should be in their starter feed. Check on the concentration of niacin in your duckling crumbles: 25 mg of Niacin per pound should be fine.
If your feed contains that amount of niacin, then a few peas will give them a boost. But ducklings should not fill up on peas [which mine would if I let them] because they will not then eat their full ration of duck feed that provides balanced nutrition.

One cup of peas provides 3mg niacin. Ducks need about 10mg a day

Important to note that most of the niacin in plants isn't available to ducklings. A duck isn't going to absorb 3 mg per cup the way a human's digestive system would. From my understanding the niacin in peas is more absorbable, but as quickly as mine have passed the peas I've given them I'd be surprised if it wasn't largely insignificant.

yes! DuneDucks: eat peas, 20 minutes later pea green poop. The absorption of niacin from peas isn't a big issue when the peas are a treat on the side and offering a little extra above the balanced duck food.
If ducklings are eating chick starter with a much lower concentration of niacin, then the ducklings have to get brewer's or nutritional yeast. Peas, while still a nice treat, won't be enough to increase the intake to required levels of niacin.
