Niacin Deficiency

@DuneDucks and @New duck mommy 2021 i was able to get them all to enjoy treated pea mash this morning. I did reduce the dosage down to 2 mL over peas to ensure I didn’t over do it with all of them eating together. I tried singling out the one I’m worried about but she would eat without her pals.
She still vocalizes so differently than my other 2 ladies. Wish I could up load a video. But I guess time will tell 😊 I’ll update everyone in a few weeks!

That’s great
It won’t hurt the others to have it anyway as any niacin they don’t need the body releases it

Thought I'd pop by this thread and give everyone an update. My worrisome duck (Tina) is doing great!
I gave the rec B-vitamin supplement for a week over peas before discontinuing it, and she is not showing any signs of a deficiency. She still a bit more awkward/nervous than the other 2 but I think that might just be her personality and temperament.

All 3 of my ladies (Tina, Lousie, and Toast) went outside to their new enclosure on Mother's Day and have been doing awesome outside the past 2 weeks. Took about a week to train them to use their house ramp on their own to get locked up at night, and we just upgraded from a kiddie pool to a 4' x 12" high pool. (Which they are wary of, so hopefully they make use of it soon).

They are 11 weeks old today. Expecting 1st eggs by beginning of July. If only we could get them all to be a bit less skittish of us, but time will tell!
Thank you all for the advice :D

That's fantastic to hear! I was actually thinking about this post the other day, so the update is appreciated. Glad that your flock is doing so well.

As far as being skittish goes, just establishing a regular presence and handfeeding them their favorite treats will go a long way. Some will likely be bolder than others, but even the most comfortable are going to act on their prey instinct and be startled from time to time, so don't be too discouraged by that. Whether it's by happily splashing around, or excitedly peeping as they discover something in their foraging, you'll come to find ducks express their appreciation in many different ways!
