I would strongly recommend this device to control your coon problems.
We have six of them, placed for cross coverage of our front, back and side porches and where we have our garbage cans. Also have them surrounding the chicken coop and have yet to see the first coon after dark.
Directions supplied with the units have several suggestions on how to place them.
Try one and see if it helps you, it did for us.

6 of'em at $29 each, it would be cheaper for me to raise a chicken every now and then to feed the coons.
 
9MM Bullets are way cheaper and you get to do some target practice
