Night light?!

Thanks. When I get back I'll buy adapters so the little night light bulb will go in the socket.
For now the girls are sleeping under a green party light that was the dimmest bulb I could find around the house the night the heat lamp was no longer needed. I thought about changing colors but didn't. Maybe red would be better. Anyone know of chicken studies with color . . . ha- ha!
Bye!

I use a 60-watt light in winter to extend daylight to 13-15 hours per day, to help with egg production. I have it come on in the morning, on a timer to switch off when the sun rises, so the light doesn't suddenly switch off in the dark, leaving them stranded. I've heard that leaving the light on all night stresses them, but I don't really know. The light gives a little extra warmth but my understanding is that they don't really have a problem until the temp drops to zero (but they sure look cold before that).

Otherwise, when I check on them after dark, I use a flashlight.
