I have one thread going about my 10 guineas 16 weeks old, but this is a different subject so what the heck might as well start another. At night when they are in their coop they sure are noisy. Sometimes just soft cooing and murmurs and other times yelling their hearts out. Is that normal? I've observed them at 11pm,2am,4am and they are loud, Not constant and they quiet down for long spells but randomly let it loose at different times of the night. My trail cam has revealed nothing by the coop and when I let my dog out she has taken no exception of any intruders around. And she treats rabbits, coons, foxes, deer and bear the same way, Bark city. So, are these guineas just having bad dreams(LOL) or just more bizarre behavior? And at daybreak they also get excited but I understand that!

I don't know. Mine are dead quiet at night. You can pick them up and hold them once they are good and out of it, by 11:00 pm or so.

The last time I held or touched mine were when we transferred them at about 8 weeks old to their coop. Now I or they have no desire to bond like that. But they do get real close to me when I herd them.

Mine are pretty quiet after they finally get settled in at night. Once in a while I’ll hear a whistle but never any really loud commotion. But mine scream all day long, so they may be too tired at night.

Mine scream all day too but today they were out most of it so we''l see. I found them coveyed up under a spruce tree midday which is very unlike them. I have hope!

My guineas are quiet all night long unless there is some kind of disturbance.
I am wondering about your coop setup. Do you have alot of windows in or around the roost area, and do you have outdoor lighting at night that may be lighting up there sleeping area and disturbing there sleep patern?

Interesting, I do have the clear roofing panels on the front of the coop roof(you can kind of see in my avatar pic) which might let some moon light in on a clear night. My driveway light is 50 yards away with a garage in between. But if that is the case than all guineas that roast in trees would tend to be loud on a clear night or if they are near any lighting.

Even my guineas who ocasionally roost in the tree outside my coop do not make a peep all night long. I dont have any outdoor lighting at night.
maybe you could try an experiment and turn off the outside light, or cover your coop roof with a blanket some night and see if they go quiet.
If not its possible you just have a group that have learned this habbit of nightime vocals.
i think it is not the norm.

Update , after a few nights with the driveway light off , one being quite noisy and bright with thunder and lighting, the other ones seem to have quieted the guineas a bit. Not totally but I feel they are restless out there and anything to get them going does. The journey continues.
