I was out at 1 am last night checking on everything and I heard a crash in the coop. I investigated and found this girl trying to crawl in the nest box in the dark to lay an egg. Seeing eggs on the floor in the morning before I've realized if they need to lay at night they just poop it out from the roost. But this girl is a little more conscious and careful about her night time egg laying.

The eggs that are showing are fake eggs I keep in the nest buckets. She is a Pink Egg Project hen, mix of L. Brahma, EE and RIR.

Put a night light in the coop over the nest boxes if possible. It will help the hens find the boxes in the dark and doesn't add to the power bill.
