night time stress?

Is this a new coop? New place to sleep? The first couple nights I put the Delawares outside in their place to sleep they were really upset. I sat down on the ground and they all came over and climbed on me and promptly went to sleep. I put them where I wanted them to be and in a few days they got to where they'd go right to their spots to sleep.

It is funny to watch them get ready for bed. They do have to be in their "spots." And they fuss and carry on til they get in the "correct spot."

I think as a rule the "left to right" thing is correct. THere are exceptions though. Millie sleeps to the far right at the present time and the Delaware's sleep to the far left. Millie is definitely queen of the roost, at least for now.

It was new three weeks ago but nothing has changed since then. I didn't get to try the putting them where I want them to be last night because of a huge thunderstorm but I think I'm going to try it tonight. It is so nice to talk to people who have chickens rather than just trying to find the information in books. I'm glad I found this place
