No broody hen this year!

The last couple of years, I've had no problem hatching chick's since at some point a hen would go broody. This past year, not a single hen went broody, ever?!? What happened? Most were the same chickens.

I have no idea why as I have to break my silkies constantly. Maybe someone else knows.

What if you put a bunch of eggs in a nest? Would one maybe sit on them?

Sometimes when a chicken gets older, they are less willing to sit on eggs. If you have a rooster that could encourage them to sit, as they think they've been bred. Also, put some fake eggs in the box, they'll sit on those because you don't take them away, then add the eggs you want to hatch.

Welcome to BYC.
I've had broodies who skipped an entire year, then went broody again the next year. I have one who brooded before her 1st birthday and never went broody again until she was almost 6 years old.
Check them over for parasites. Make sure they are eating a good quality feed. If they are well nourished and in good health, I'd say they just weren't feeling the hormonal urge.
