Does anyone has any information on the no crow collars; do they really work. Maybe someone has experienced them and can educate me more on the subject thanks. gp329

I have one on my young Biel cockerel and it seems to be working. His infrequent crows are much reduced in volume, quieter than the hens' egg song. The lady I got Dude from put it on him at night the first time and he seemed to accept it well. Maybe because he is so young? It doesn't seem to bother him, though I worry when he gulps food as he sometimes does because he's a bit hen pecked right now and tends to bold food down when he can snatch something good. The collar I'm using is actually just a 2" wide velcro band. I can fit a slightly snug two fingers under it so it's not super tight or loose. It does mess up his pretty hackle feathers but the alternative is the frying pan so we'll deal with it.

My Faverolles cockerel just started crowing recently. He's on day 4 or 5 of wearing a homemade collar (velcro and old Tshirt material). The volume of his crow is definitely reduced and some of his crows seem shorter. He doesn't crow a lot or let out long crows to begin with. it took him about 10 minutes to get used to wearing the collar. He dropped his head and walked backwards a bit, but after I pushed him forward a few times, he realized he could actually walk normally and then just complained for 2 more minutes. We did this at night and put him in a crate in the house to observe overnight. By morning, he acted like he wasn't wearing it at all. He just wanted to go outside to join his harem.

Hello - I realize this is an old thread. I also have FAvs would love to keep a rooster out of my current batch. Wondering if the no-crow collar continued to work for you? Thanks!

I bought some christmas velcro on clearance at Lowes for $0.80 a roll. I cut a strip about 3" and wrapped it around the base of the neck of my silkie rooster that likes to crow at 3am. I put it on snug but not tight. Its been 2 weeks now and he seems fine.
