I have 4 barred rocks I got as babies they are 25 weeks old and no eggs yet it's been warm weather for a little while so I didn't think it was because of that , anyone have ideas?

Most if my girls have taken until 6 months to lay. Do they free range and have you searched for a secret nest? If so they're probably getting close, any squatting?

Shouldn't be long now!

Here's few signs that laying is impending:
Squatting:
If you touch their back they will hunker down on the ground, then shake their tail feathers when they get back up.
This shows they are sexually mature and egg laying is close at hand.

Combs and Wattles:
Plump, shiny red - usually means laying.
Shriveled, dryish looking and pale - usually means not laying.

2 bony points on either side of vent:
Less than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means not laying.
More than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means laying.

Fussing in the nests:
In and out and in and out... scratching at the bedding.

New layers can be quite goofy acting, they don't know what they are doing at first and can be confused and anxious, it can take up to a month or so before they get it all figured out. Putting some fake eggs or golf balls in the nest might help show them where to lay. They may scratch around in the nests for weeks before laying. Meanwhile, eggs everywhere, some of them can be rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs.

They do not free range I have them in a dog run and I tried the petting their back trick and it worked but yes they have dull red combs

Iv just recently experienced this with one of mine except today because she's in a separate pen for quarentin for another few days she layed a gaigantic egg at about 26 almost 27 weeks and she is a black star
