I have 24 hens and was getting 18 eggs a day until last week. Starting about last month I had been leaving my chicken coop door open, because they love being out, and lay more when I do let them out. Well, last weekend I went out of town and had a neighbor feed for me and gather eggs, in 4 days they got only 20 eggs. Weird, but I didn't worry. For two more days I got no eggs. Then the next day I saw a raccoon around the barn so I thought that was what was getting my eggs. I closed my chickens back up in their pen two days ago and still I'm getting no eggs. Today when I went to go feed there was two dead chickens and NO EGG! What's happening??

PLEASE HELP!!!!

My coop is designed so no predators can get in. We have checked every nook and crany

Were the dead chickens bloody? Or are you thinking it was a desiese that wiped them out? Have you lost any since? Or gotten any eggs?

We have lost a couple chickens to raccoons and the remaining hens have all but stopped laying. We get an egg or two a day, at most, from 9 layers. I wonder if they've been stressed by the raccoon attacks. We have trapped two coons and haven't seemed to have any more problems, but our hens haven't started laying again :(
