Back in March my fiance surprised me with some new chickens since we had an animal kill off 4 of the 6 during the fall. I got 3 ameraucana's and 4 golden sex links. I have had no eggs from them and they should be laying by now. The older girls I had continued to lay and just recently stopped as well. Now my girls seem to be getting aggressive with the ameraucana's and have pulled feathers from there tails. I upped their food and treats thinking they were hungry and got a bigger water holder. I'm not sure what else to do. I do let them free-range for 6 hours a day now because I thought maybe they need more space and the run isn't big enough (10x16). My next step is making their coop bigger since they started to now sleep on top of it. This has all happened over a 3 month period and I'm running out of ideas.

Are you sure they aren't laying their eggs while out free ranging. If you are sure then chances are you will have to wait until the spring when the amount of daylight works in your favor again. Hopefully they are just leaving them in the yard somewhere. Good luck and don't loose heart...

Not that I have seen I will double check that though since they like to hang out under the deck the most.

Ive never done this, but there’s a way to feel their bones around their vent to see if they’ve laid... I know very little about this - maybe google it or someone else could chime in?

How big is the coop?
Dimensions and pics would help.

Here's how to tell....
