Today was my first full day with 8 chickens. Got them last night. When I checked this evening I didn't see any eggs. Is this normal?

I'm located in MichiganThey might start laying once they get used to their new space, or they may have slowed down for the winter and you might not get any eggs until the days get longer again. Where are you located?
To be honest I'm not sure. Got them free from a farmer. She said they average 7 a day.How old are they? Usually laying hens will take some time off to adjust to a new living space
She did mention they slowed down to 2 a day or so.I agree with what had been said already; the stress of the move and the new home will cause the ladies to not lay right away. Did the farmer mention if they have already stopped laying for the winter?
Most chickens stop laying for the winter due to the shortened number of daylight hours.
