I posted an original thread here...

I don't think the photos where conveying what I was trying to get help with....
This is "nemo" he only has a couple of pin feathers growing on one of his wings and the other is fully feathered. I do believe he is a rooster, so I know he is feathering slowly compared to the other 2 polish which MIGHT be girls but I am not sure, he is the only one with a little comb. I am concerned b/c not only does he not have any feathers on one of his wings or half of his body but he sits around a lot while the others are active. He sits there kind of puffed up (with the few feathers he has!) I know he is not cold because when I pick him up he is very warm. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be going on? I know all chicks go through funky stages as they grow but this is really abnormal, I am hoping this photo will help more. I think I am going to try and find a home for him as I don't need another rooster, especially one that can't be used for breeding or showing..

Wow! I wish I could help and I certainly hope that someone comes along with some sort of answer for you. That poor little guy. I have personally never seen or heard of anything like that happening. You say he's got his pin feathers on the non-feathered side but they just haven't grown out yet?

I can't help except to say that a picture is worth a thousand words. I read your other thread but I didn't imagine the difference to be this great. Hopefully someone here will have some information for you.

Wow, what a strange problem! I'm afraid to say I don't now what's wrong either. Maybe try googling "feather growth unsymmetrical" or something like that and see what comes up. My other recommendation would be to call an avian vet and see if they have any ideas as to what's causing it. My first instinct is some sort of deficiency of something in his body, or nutrients being blocked on the one side or...something. I wish I could help more! I'm really curious what the cause of this is, please update us if you figure it out. Good luck--I hope the little one hangs in there until you find a way to help him!

Looks like some congenital defect, perhaps a blood flow insufficiency or just inadequate development of the feather structures. From the looks of it, that's unlikely to change, only time will tell.

My first thought was a circulation problem too, but my background is in large animals... (quite different from chickens

Do the wattles appear to be even? Total stab in the dark, and highly unlikely, but perhaps you have one of those half male/half female looking chickens! Gynandromorphous, I think it is called.
