No hummingbirds this year??

Great link Buff, thanks!
They make multiple nests in the hibiscus bush. I try to be very careful mowing around the monster.
Their fighting does get funny at times. They get so busy fighting you have to watch that they don't run into you.
ETA: I checked the map and they should be here by now. My DH thinks the bad storms we've had may have kept them away. We'll see what happens when the hibiscus blooms.

Ours have been here for a while. I almost got smacked by 2 yesterday. You re so lucky if you get to see the nest. We have a ton and I have never seen a nest. I look for them every year. BTY - this is my grandparents house I now live in so "every year" is indeed a L O N G time.

Well I guess most of them are all down south with you guys at the feeders! Ours come around 1st or 2nd week of May and I had the feeders out. We had about 6 flying around up until a couple of days ago - now ALL GONE

We been having a few cold and rainy days, maybe they'll be back out with the sun?

This year's weather has been so weird. Maybe their internal sensors are keeping them to safer warmer areas at the moment?

Right now the females are on the nest. You should notice more out and about when the babies fledge. Everyone was noticing how there were fewer hummers last year around this time, too, but then later in the summer they all showed up!

I usually only have 1-2 pairs and my activity seems normal for this time of year.

They're hard to count moving so fast, but last year we managed to count 24 at the feeders at one time. Not too long ago I saw an idea for a tiny little homemade feeder that you can hold up to get them to eat from your hands so to speak. Can't wait to try it.

My neighbor and I are sharing ours we have seen two at her house and two at mine...her mother has about 150 at lake of the ozarks...maybe we will see more soon!!
