No more wild birds at feeder

You also mentioned having a lot of hawks around. One or more may have made your feeder its/their favorite hunting "ground". Bird feeders are always good for concentrating their food for them.
Yes, unfortunately, I've actually seen hawks strike at my feeder. They do consider it their own private snack bar. I always feel bad about that but I just love seeing the birds come to the feeder. Usually, though, the little birds outnumber the hawks.

This may seem like a really silly question but I'm just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else. For years I have a multitude of wild backyard birds at my bird feeders, so much so that I often can't keep up with keeping my feeders filled. Three weeks ago I filled my feeder and it is still full. No birds. We put our chicken coop in back in June and have chickens about 60 feet away from the feeder, a good distance. Also, we can't free range because of so many hawks here, we live in the woods. Anyway, my wild birds have dwindled down to nothing. The feeder has been full for three weeks. I love my chickens but I'm sad that we are no longer getting wild birds. My question is, has this happened to anyone else? Are the wild birds not coming around because of the chickens?
I have noticed the same thing happening at my feeders. We live on four wooded acres and do not have chickens. I have no more finches, cardinals, nut hatches, chickadees, sparrows, etc. I did see a Caroline wren this morning. My husband thought they all migrated, but these are birds we normally have year round. What is happening?

All summer long I have been filling my 'home' feeders daily. I now fill them once a week - maybe. At the sporting club I belong to I was filling two feeders daily. Now I am filling one feeder every two to three days. :idunno

I didn't feed the wild birds this summer, figured there are loads of bugs for them to eat. Right now they are busy eating the tiny wild rose hips. Since it has turned colder, I put out the suet and sunflower seeds.
We are currently in the 6th great extinction. Mankind is poisoning the planet, and ruining habitat. Lots of species are in trouble.

Bird numbers and feeder activity are gradually picking up. Still not seeing any cardinals.
We too have gotten many more birds back but alas, it's rare to see a cardinal too. Hubby told me he saw several in our raspberry bushes the other day. Well, then why didn't they come over to the yummy sunflower seeds? That was just one day though. I watch for them now over there but I don't see any. What I know we're missing besides them, that do not migrate, are evening grosbeaks.

Oddly, the various woodpeckers never left.
