Hi everyone! I am new to this site! I have four duck eggs in an incubator that made it, I had to discard three of them due to loss of life. :(

My story: Out of the four, only one of them is showing movement; the others are pretty still, but when I candled all four of these eggs looked healthy and full. Two of these eggs are Rouen and the other two are Pekin. They are in lockdown since it’s the 28th day. I put them in lockdown two days ago. The temp is 99 degrees F and the humidity is 65.

Questions:

1.) Is this lack of movement okay/normal this late in the process?

2.) None of the eggs have piped externally, is that a concern this late in the process?

3.) How can I tell if an egg piped internally?

Sorry for all the questions, like I mentioned, I am brand new to this process so any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Lack of movement inside the egg is normal, but the egg as a whole rocking around is pretty typical at this point.

External pip will usually occur within 24 hours after internal pip.

I think the only way to tell if theres an internal pip without candling is to listen for the duckling peeping inside the egg

The process I see with my eggs is: internal pip on day 26, external pip on day 27 and zip/hatch right on day 28. Although I've read that lower or higher temps during incubation can cause early or late hatches
