Alright. I'm having a small issue with the coop right now that I don't remember having growing up or maybe I'm just more conscience of now. Tiny little biting bugs. They bite me, they bother the chickens. They are REALLY small, barely visible even, but you definitely feel the bites. From what I've gathered online and what my original thought is, they are no see ums, but I can't really be sure. The chickens are just irritated by them, they twitch their heads a lot when they are in the coop. Luckily I keep them outside most of the day and now they are free ranging as well so they aren't constantly being hindered.
This being said I'd still like to know what you guys think and what your resolutions to the problem might be, IE: What kind of traps might work. I'm in Michigan in case that might help with the identification of this insect. I will reiterate that they are really, really small. I guess a lot of sites refer to them as Biting Midges as well, but I always thought those were a little bigger.
