I have a covered run and in the fall I add in about three or four yard bags of leaves from the neighbourhood. This keeps their run cozy and dry all winter long - with lots of fun things to dig in. And in the late spring, I have amazing compost to put in the gardens. Highly recommend! I don’t recommend heating your coop, the difference might be too much for them if the power went out etc as they would not be acclimated.
