two Nights ago my husband i were working out side on horse trailer, it was well past midnight and cool enough for both of us to work, while taken a short brake and just listening to the creatures of the night we hard what sound like a hammer hunting tin and assumed it was the turkies hitting the top of there coop while bug hunting....i fed late that night so thoughti could get a little extrea sleep in the next morning.
sheriff dept call at 9 a.m (i'm usually up at 7:30 doing chores) all 3 of my horses have been roaming up and down the street, i havge 2 rough looking horse and a very fat pony and have been working with the vet with the other two, it took no less the a minute to call them back to the paddock, i have 2 gates leading in to the paddock and i am so ocd about locking them, found that one had not been locked....very strange....while walking back towards the house it donned on me!! when my horses get out for let out to grazz, which i do a lot!!, there was no poop any where to be found, but only on the street....which means they were driven down my drive way......i went to check on my chickens and they seemed fine, our bucket calf pen gate was open about half a foot...he stayed in the pen....my dog's who stay out in a run where fine....i've notice that every so often i've had to set the timers on certin stuff out side....went in to tell my husband to call the sheriff to tell him what happend right away...he just brushed that off (so typical of my idoit husband and he wonders why i nag him so much) while by 1 the sheriff show's up at our house wanting to see our horses.....so i show him.....he know that we have been having problem with them, so that is total blown off, i told him how i found my gates on both my horse pen and calf pen, he made a note of it......this is the part that scares me......we have a cop and his phyco wife move her about 3 years ago...i have seen her tresspassing on people property....she's been on ours....i really don't know what i did to her (i don't even talk to her) but she has my and my daughters life a living hell, calling cps when she feels like it ....cps is getting tired of it...no one likes her in town (her husband is really nice), she just left her huband and 4 kids (great mother she is) which means that she is unacountable now.....that's the part that scares me...she's been warned not to harrass us but with out some one keeping a eye on her it's hard too.....

Sure sounds like someone has your number, doesn't it?
With no proof, everyone will continue the

so what are you going to do to protect yourself?

Padlocks on the gates? Complicated chains? Moat with alligators?

IR motion detector cameras might be a good investment, too.

Glad your animals didn't go far.

a mot with gaters would be nice!!....we're thinking of putting in motion sensor lights just out side of the area where the pens are.....i have a mini van that i keep all my feed (my shed on wheels) that i now lock up at night also......

that sounds like my neighbour from hell, who moved out finally after 11 years of the same torment your going through......she also let our horses (we had 11 a that time including very very young ponies) out onto the lanes around midnight one time... I was recovering from a bad accident and was alone at home..... I had to use my car to block one end of the lane, and then call the eldest horse back to me... the rest followed... that was a truly scarey scarey event that I swore would never happen again......... now every single gate (still) on the property is padlocked... had it not been for "Humphrey" the leader of the pack, I doubt I could have gotten them all back...... and they could have wandered for miles.... thankfully none where hurt including me, when you have 11 horses thundering down the lane, and you can't walk properly believe me it was a nightmare... good old Humphrey came to the resuce....... what a horse he was..... we still miss him (he died a few years ago)...

SO padlock all your gates..... put up CCTV cameras (even if you use the dummy ones).. and get those sensor lights put up asap....... keep as much of your stuff under lock and key.... whoever it is will ge the message. I even have one litle (talking sensor) near the front gates, anyone coes through at night... it screams out "intruder alert intruder alert" ..... enough to frighten the life out of them...........

keep us all posted as to hwo you get on.
