Noise?

I just started raising and breeding m Guinea's about 3-4 months ago and for me they were very noisey! In the morning i couldn't even hear my roosters crow the Guineas were so loud. But it might also be cause it was begining of their mating season and the roo saw my other females in the other pen...

Once they become adolescents, you can tell the males from the females. You might just get rid of the females and keep the males who are no where near as obnoxiously loud and noisey. I had four guineas at my home in FL and had to get rid of the female as I couldn`t stand the racket. After that, the boys were a joy and even though they made plenty of noise, it was much easier on the psyche. Please don`t think I`m including females of all species in my remarks, only guineas.......Pop

Hmmm, I didn't realize the males were "quieter." I want them to roam our property, eat bugs, and alert us to hawks and fox. I was only thinking of getting 2. Our chickens are in a pen, and I'm planning on keeping them there.

Mine just started that squeaky wheel noise a few days ago. Its a riot but it does get loud. And they are not even grown yet. It doesnt bother me one bit. But then again..No neighbors to speak of.
They are so fun to watch and they do have their own language for sure.

We had em out today for the first time and they went nuts. It was fun to watch them put my little hen in her place after she got naughty with one of the keets.

But they are loud..VERY loud

I just wanted to say that I spoke to my neighbor the other day and she told me a story that I was amazed at. She told me we had a family of coons living behind our houses. I had no idea as I've not seen any sign of them. This is because our guineas sound off the alert and her dog comes up to chase them off! So when I thought they were just alarming at the wind changing, they were actually protecting themselves and the rest of our birds!

Yes they are very good "gaurd dogs" you can say. There are even stories that Guineas have killed Snakes. Plus they are very good pest control on top of that.

Thanks for all of the advice. I think I may try a pair and if they get too noisy give them back to my friend. She raises them, so my unwanted roos etc can go back to her farm.

the females only sound the alert when its important unlike the males that sounded it at everything

the females do make constant buckwheats tho but they aren't very loud i dont think

once they get use to everything and get about a year old they aren't as noisy unless its important

if it was me i would get 2 females and 2 males, once they hit a year old it wont be to bad.
