So, I'm in the basement doing laundry yesterday morning and I hear an ugly noise, sounds like dying machinery trying to turn on. I go into the garage where the 'girls' are kept. I notice my 8 week old blue andalusian puffing her neck feathers, stretching her neck out and creating this noise. Is this normal for hens at this age to make such noises? I've heard the 'boks' already, but never this. Could this girl be a roo? He/She has been bossy the last few days to everyone else. Blue Andalusians are hard to tell since both hens and roos have pronounced waddles and combs.

Hubby said no roos...period! While eating breakfast this morning (dining room is over the garage), hubby heard the noise and said, "what's that" kinda suspicious like...Please don't tell me my favorite girl could be a boy!

From the stories i hear around this place, you probably got a roo. The only thing is, thats real young. Mine is 12 weeks and i have not heard him crow yet. DH thinks he heard it the other morning before i let them out of the hen house. Better not tell him, hell him yourd hens do that sometimes when there is no roo. Its true, i learned that here too.
