Noisy Barred Rocks?

I have 3 Barred Rocks. They squawk and rumble really loudly all day. Is this normal for this kind of breed? BTW I'm Miranda and I have 4 white Leghorns, 3 Barred Rocks and an Austrulop rooster. I also have 9 chicks which I can't tell what the breed is yet. I've been doing doing chickens for a year now- and it is AWESOME!.

Yup, chickens are noisy. Anyone who tells you they are always quiet, hasn't had much experience with them, I'm afraid. Not much to do with the breed, per se, more the group dynamics and the individuals involved.

Chicken cluck and chat all the time and some of them are really noisy! You must post pics of your chicks in the What Breed/Gender isThis section when they are fully feathered, so we can to identify them for you.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

My roosters crow like crazy when they see me, especially when I come home from work, and the hens bawk and cluck like crazy, silly things.

Welcome! I have one Barred Rock and she is rather quiet, along with my other hens...Dunno...
