I have some cinnamon queens that I got in bad shape at about 18 months in March. I've nursed them back to health, and expected to get another year out of them at least. 2 days ago, I was out in the chicken yard and heard a commotion, turned and saw what looked like 4 hens attacking another hen who was flapping around. The hen stopped flapping, and the others kinds walked away, so I thought that was the end of it. Then the hen jumped up about 4 feet in the air and tried to cough? Sneeze? something like that, and some fluid came out of her mouth. The other hens came running back over and started pecking at her, so I shooed them away and was going to pick her up when she repeated the whole thing and then just laid on the ground and a lot of fluid came out of her mouth and nose. She flaped a couple more times and died, her red comb and stuff turned kind of purplish. I am assuming this is a heart attack, what do y'all think? And while on the topic, what kind of life span do these Cinnamon Queens usually have? I thought we would have more time with them.

I am so sorry for your loss. If you truly want to know what happened, you could send the body for a Necropsy. Put it in the refrigerator, not the freezer. Here are local Labs in your state. typically the cost is minimal but, at least they can tell you the reason your chicken died. Hope this helps.
Sorry about your loss.
