Non Free Ranging, Free Range Guinea's

I got a pair of guinea keets a couple of months ago and raised them with some chicks I had in the brooder. When they were old enough to be off heat I moved them all to a little coop with a run. I have now taken my 2 guinea's out of there so that they can free range. I got them to eat the bugs and ticks around here. However all they do all day long is run up and down the fence line trying to get back in with the chicks they were raised with. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on how to get them to actually free ranger? Any replies would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Guineas don`t adapt easily to change. Give them some time, maybe let the chickens free range for a few day......Pop

My chickens do the same thing when I turn them loose. Be sure they have some feed and water outside the pen and they will eventually wander.

They do have feed and water of their own outside. I have a bantam quad that are out and about on free range too and they wander much farther than the guinea's. It's funny because before I got them I was watching this forum and people were saying they have a hard time keeping their guinea's off of the neighbors property. I thought that would be my issue as well but its the opposite.

Darn, I have the same problem. They're just too attached to the chickens.

The problem is that they are used to being inside the run. You just need to wait it out, or let the chickens out with them. 2 guineas aren't going to make that big of an impact on ticks though.

Give them time. As said before Guineas do not take well to change. They will slowly venture farther and farther away from their "chicken buddies"
